Listed as a National Historic Landmark and a Virginia Landmark, this two-story structure consists of three brick buildings, built between 1815 and 1850. Upgrades included the installation of fire suppression systems, waterproofing the basement and exteriors, installation of security systems, and preserving the exterior and interior fabric of the museum, which serves the largest repository in the country of artifacts and documents related to Monroe.
