Commonwealth Architects was retained to produce a detailed physical condition and structural integrity assessment of the Hooper Island Light Station, located in the Chesapeake Bay and under the jurisdictions of Dorchester County, MD. Constructed during the early 1900’s, it is one of only five lighthouses built during that time. Commonwealth Architects made several recommendations within the report and concluded that the County’s first priority is to immediately secure the light from the elements, stabilize any deterioration and prohibit further loss of materials or structural integrity.
