FEATURED: US Builders Review Case Study on the Sustainability of the Barbara Johns Building

Commonwealth Architects, in partnership with the Virginia Department of General Services (DGS), Sustainable Design Consulting, M/E/P Engineer Integral Group and construction manager Kjellstrom and Lee Construction, took part in the renovation of the former Hotel Richmond. Now known as the Barbara Johns Building, it is occupied by the Virginia Office of the Attorney General and has received U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification, which takes nearly 60 factors into account when gauging a project’s overall sustainability.
