The former First National Bank in Richmond, VA, has been rehabilitated into a mixed-use development providing contemporary downtown living and commercial spaces. Rushmark Properties and HITT Contracting contracted Commonwealth Architects to provide architectural and engineering services for the design/build project. The 300,441 square-foot-development, which once served as the headquarters for the state’s oldest banking institution, incorporates the site’s unique history and architectural grandeur into the design.

Conveniently located in Richmond’s financial district, the converted residential building respectfully blends modern apartment living with the history and character of the original building – giving new life to one of the city’s architectural treasures. The transformation provides 154 apartments with amenities including a fitness center, community room, game room, and 6,300 square-feet of commercial space. In addition, the existing parking deck was rehabilitated for use by the residential tenants.
