FEATURED: More than 120 people turn out to view Vakos Cos.’s plans for downtown Fredericksburg
William Square, a Vakos Cos. Affiliate, is planning to develop the blocks containing The Free Lance-Star’s former office and the recently demolished William Street Executive Building, transforming the area into a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood called The Promenade. The developers turned to Commonwealth Architects to design the new mixed-use community, which includes two multi-family apartment buildings with commercial retail, a new hotel, and parking garage. At the request of the Fredericksburg City Council, representatives from Vakos gave the public a chance to see renderings of the project and ask questions before council members take the second and final vote on vacating ownership of the street on August 13.
