Commonwealth Architects is pleased to announce the following promotions:

promotion_01 Virginia W. Johnston, CID, has been promoted from Senior Associate to Director of Interior Design for Commonwealth Architects.

Since joining the firm in 2002, Ginny has been an essential component of the Interior Architecture group’s success through the infusion of her strong design sense and exceptional standards of quality and service for our clients.

As a lead designer and project manager for Commonwealth Architects, Ginny has specialized in interior design for corporate, higher education and multi-family residential projects. In her new role as Director of Interior Design, she will lead interior design staff development and will provide overall direction and guidance for all interior design projects.

“I’m proud of our award winning and creative interior design group and look forward to further team collaboration. We are dedicated to raising the conscious level of design throughout each of our projects,” said Ginny.

promotion_02Michael Stein, AIA, LEED AP BD + C, has been promoted to Senior Associate for Commonwealth Architects.

Michael joined the firm in 2013 as a Senior Architect and has excelled in his role as Project Manager. His depth of experience with a broad range of projects during more than 20 years in practice has made him an invaluable part of the leadership at Commonwealth Architects. Michael previously had his own architectural practice in Phoenix, Arizona.

Michael brought his design expertise to the rehabilitation of the Central National Bank project in Richmond, Virginia, a highly anticipated transformation of the former bank building into a mixed-use development. He is now serving as Project Manager on the conversion of the Miller & Rhoads Hilton
Garden Inn into a full-service Hilton Hotel that will bring an expanded high-end hotel and conference facility to downtown Richmond. In addition, Michael is currently working on boutique hotels in Bristol and Danville, Virginia.

“As a Senior Associate I look forward to expanding my role to help further our business development efforts,” said Michael.
