Commonwealth Architects Welcome Boynton Rothschild Rowland Architects to the Firm
Commonwealth Architects, P.C. announced today that the Richmond-based architecture firm, Boynton Rothschild Rowland Architects PC will join the firm in order to expand the company’s architectural capabilities.
Commonwealth Architects, a 20-year old architecture, historic preservation, planning and interior design firm headquartered in Richmond, will expand its team to include J. Mitchell (Mitch) Rowland III, AIA as the Director of Higher Education and Robert (Bob) A. Boynton, FAIA as a consulting architect for special projects.
“We were teamed with Boynton Rothschild Rowland Architects PC on a project 20 years ago and we have maintained strong ties since that time. We are always evaluating different options and consolidating with Boynton Rothschild Rowland Architects PC in the current environment feels like a natural move. While they strengthen relationships with some clients we have in common, Boynton Rothschild Rowland Architects PC has been very successful with several universities and governmental clients outside our current client base,” said Lee Shadbolt, AIA Principal at Commonwealth Architects.
Boynton Rothschild Rowland Architects PC was established in 1991 and continued a strong Richmond architectural lineage as a successor of five architectural firms dating back 116 years to Charles M. Robinson in 1904.
“The timing works well for us and having a familiarity with the majority of the Commonwealth Architects staff for several years makes the consolidation easy for us. Having stronger production capacities and “bench strength” for our staff provides real value for our clients,” said Mitch Rowland, Principal at Boynton Rothschild Rowland Architects PC.
Commonwealth Architects provides a variety of services including architecture, historic preservation, interior design, tenant services, master planning and urban planning. The addition of Boynton Rothschild Rowland Architects PC expands Commonwealth Architects’ design portfolio further into the university and governmental agencies markets throughout Virginia.
