Commonwealth Architects provided design services to Gumenick Properties for its new corporate headquarters located in Libbie Mill, an 80-acre, mixed-use community under development by the company in Richmond, Virginia’s Midtown district. The space blends contemporary, flexible office concepts with industrial warehouse elements. Because the company often focuses on residential real estate, it was important to give the space a residential feel while juxtaposing an industrial character.
The headquarters’ layout creates a mix of private offices on the perimeter with collaborative spaces in common zones. In the open office center, raised counters provide for movement and flow in the office and have a positive impact on collaboration.
