Commonwealth Architects provided architectural and interior design services to West End Academy of Dance for their new studio. WEAD’s goal was to create a modern fresh space where dancers and their families feel comfortable, and be able to expand their offerings of professional dance instruction in a fun and safe environment.
Through the progression of window patterns and the swooping entrance canopy, this modern building is designed to reflect the movement of dance. The freestanding 6,000 sf building features three dance studios with wood sprung dance floors, high ceilings, sound proofed walls, movable partitions, and state of the art sound equipment. Bright and airy spaces invite creativity and self-expression and the double height lobby provides a naturally lit space for families to socialize and relax in comfort while they wait for their dancer. The second floor administrative offices allow teachers and staff a place for quiet work while remaining connected with views into all the studios.
