This 190,000 square foot Regional Retail Center was master planned as part of, and located at the gateway to New Town, a 365 acre New Urbanist mixed-use community located in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Our design team worked closely on the developer’s behalf, the community master planners, and James City County to help define the appropriate look for this gateway facility and to obtain approvals for the final designs. It was through this approval process that we developed a close relationship with James City County and the Board, which allowed subsequent reviews and approvals to be quicker and easier.
The developer envisioned the Windsor Meade Marketplace parcel as a retail development that would act as a bridge between the conventional, suburban shopping centers to the west and the pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use retail and business center of New Town.
Major tenants include: Belk Department Store, Petsmart, Office Max, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Pier One Imports. In addition to designing the shopping center exteriors, the design team provided design direction to Belk’s architects for a compatible design of the exterior of the department store, and provided tenant improvement services for all other major tenants.
Our team also provided all review and approval of outparcel development for compatibility on Landlord/Developer’s behalf.
