Commonwealth Architects provided architectural and interior architectural services to Plum Street Partners and Axis Development for the rehabilitation of a row of seven buildings located in Petersburg’s historic downtown.

The existing buildings were partially occupied at the start of the project. An artist’s loft space, leased workshop and office spaces and a storage building were leased to Southern Food Distributors until a recent major fire gutted the building except for the masonry perimeter walls.

All floors were primarily developed into rental apartments, with some for-sale, condominium development. Approximately 95 units were provided within this collection of buildings, ranging from 850 square feet to 1,700 square feet. The units are mid-level to upscale in quality.
