Commonwealth Architects provided architectural and engineering services for Interbake Partners, LLC, to turn the 3.3-acre complex into a 255,000 square-foot mixed-use structure known as the Cookie Factory Lofts. A complete rehabilitation of the former FFV Interbake plant brings upscale apartments to Richmond’s Boulevard Historic District, using historic investment tax credits.

The transformation of the facility into apartments blends contemporary living and the distinctive character of the historic baking facility. A new 2-story glass enclosed entrance enhances the entry to the development offering 178 apartments and lofts with basement parking. The two rotating ovens were converted into two units featuring vaulted ceilings. Amenities for the Cookie Factory Lofts include a new pool, a community room, a fitness center, and a two-story atrium lounge with stone fireplaces.
