The Community Preservation and Development Corporation (CPDC) has commissioned Commonwealth Architects to provide architectural and engineering services for the Baker Street School redevelopment project in Richmond, Virginia. The 3 acre site includes the Main school building (constructed in 1939) and a smaller Annex building (constructed in 1913). The Main Building will be rehabilitated into Senior Independent housing with a target total of up to 59 rental apartment units, primarily one-bedroom units and studio apartments.
This rehabilitation will use both Historic Investment Tax Credits (HITC) and Low Income Tax Credits (LITC). It is also anticipated that this project will be Earthcraft and Universal Design certified.
