Riverwalk Square Residential Project Approved for Construction in Historic Downtown Fredericksburg

“It’s coming not only to the right location, but also at the right time.” That’s the response you’ll get from owners Van and Deborah Perroy about the new Riverwalk Square Residential Project recently approved by the City of Fredericksburg, Virginia. The project, which is located in the Historic Downtown District one half block from the Amtrak/VRE station, is being marketed for sale by the owners to developers through the firm of Marcus and Millchap, Inc.

The owners chose Commonwealth Architects as the designer for Riverwalk Square, which will replace three aging concrete-block apartment buildings with seven brick townhouses and a “mansion” style building offering a total of seven townhomes and seven apartment flats all with two car garages.

Future residents will be minutes from the train station, locally owned restaurants and boutique shopping. The design and location of Riverwalk Square further supports the “concept” of New Urbanism that has put Fredericksburg at the top of the fastest growing residential areas in Virginia. Construction can begin upon approval of contract drawings by the City, which typically takes 2-3 weeks.
